DeSat Power

POWER

DeSat Power is specially designed for transformers.

Why the need for vacuum dehydrating units in Transformers?

The insulating oil in a transformer ages and forms water in this process. The water affects the insulation value and will lower the breakdown voltage of the oil. Once it approaches a critical value, the transformer must be switched off; if not, the transformer will explode.

Normally a transformer has a very long lifespan, but exactly because of this, there are quite a lot of older systems in the field. The DeSat Power Unit for degassing (= desaturation) will further extend the lifespan by decades to name a few of the advantages.

What is the status of your Transformer?

The usual measuring method is the gas-value determination in the oil.

The amount of oxyhydrogen produced indicates a condition of the transformer; H2 gas can only be formed by plasma temperature. Another value that is monitored, is the breakdown voltage (i.e. the insulating effect of the oil).

With a DeSat Power Unit attached to your transformer we hield success within 3 weeks of continuous desaturation and the critical value will again meet the original value.

However with constant treatment, the water content in the oil will fall below 4 PPM (parts per million) and the moisture will flow from the cellulose toward the hygroscopic oil. Even the cellulose will be cleansed by the DeSat unit.

Whole system will be prolonged

And once the entire system – i.e. the oil as well as the cellulose hovers below 4 PPM, the lifespan of the whole system will be prolonged. Transformer oil maintenance is the key to transformer reliability, performance, and longevity. A transformer’s insulating oil should be free from moisture, dissolved gases, and particles that accumulate as the oil ages. Even some new oils may require treatment to limit these contents to acceptable levels.

The DeSat Power Unit is your answer to the best return on investment.
